Easier than mashing potato for dinner!

Here is a little pic that I have "mashed up". There are sooo many cool features that you can do with pictures. You can even save them as a hi-res image to your "brisi-stick" or USB! I like the "jewels" feature too. I think I may even attempt to make my own Christmas Cards this year.... hmmm that is if I get a spare few seconds to myself. Anyway, I really like the mashup idea and that you can apply it to pretty much anything, imagine how "cool" libraries would look to teenagers if we used this kind of thing in our brochures..... and so much easier to do than the "old" way of spending HOURS and HOURS in Adobe Photoshop (which is what I used to do before working in Libraries....)

Library Mapping in London

Check out this cool link for a library map in London.

The themes are:
1. From Roman urbs to Stuart City
2. London life in the 18th century
3. Sweet and salutary air: London's surrounding villages
4. Out of sight: the East End
5. The age of improvement
6. Victorian London: social problems and solutions
7. Modern London: staying on top

So you can view all of these libraries together or just each theme at a time. It then links you to opening hours yada yada yada.... I do admit even before this I was a lover of GOOGLE!

My Farm Stay

These are some of the pictures from my weekend (4 days) that I know you are all dying to see!!!!

We had heaps of fun!

Lots of chickens, sheep, pigs, goats, horses, ducks, dogs and (very sadly....) spiders. This spider was living in our cabin and so I didn't sleep too much for fear he might bite me! Dean loved feeding the horses! Walt loved just about everything - except the getting up early part! and the view was amazing too. The farm is on 380 beautiful Maleny acres with views of peace and quiet in every direction - except ours that is!

How to get there.... (this a link to google maps for The Animal Farm)

Podcasting

Podcasting. It's a bit of a funny word isn't it? I think so anyway. I know how to poscast, I even found things that I may like to podcast, however I have nothing to listen to my podcast on! I rarely spend longer than 5-10 minutes in my car (alone and not listeniong to either the Wiggles or High School Musical Soundtrack!) and I am trying to learn to speak French in that time - obviously that is going VERY VERY slowly.

As for the Library, what would we podcast?!?!?!? Rules on how to treat a book or how to use manners in the library? I don't think we'd get many subscribers. We could podcast "storeytime" or "Babies Books and Rhymes" - as long as it wasn't my voice on it of course!!!!

Although i do not podcast, I do think that they are a great idea. If I caught the bus I think I would be podcasting all the time! Here is a podcasting link to a "Lano and Woodley" comedy sketch that I found.

Go on, download it - you know you want to!!!!

Answer Boards... What A Great Idea!

Love the idea of answer boards, I am sure that overall it is very helpful and is somewhat like our "Ask a Librarian". I did notice as I was searching through the Yahoo Answers page that there are a lot of "silly" questions asked......

Delicious......

Today I learnt all about del.icio.us seems a bit like a lot of extra work, but if you are on differnet computers all the time where you don't have a "favourites" folder it is probably a good idea. I do admit, I did subscribe to the new book reviews so that each month I will get an email with reviews of HEAPS and HEAPS of new releases.
